A Strong Community History

Kim is proud to be a native Minnesotan. She grew up in the northern suburbs of St. Paul and graduated from Mounds View High School. Her family valued education and she was the first in her extended family to graduate from college. Kim attended the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities campus and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business with an accounting major. Years later while working full-time, she earned her Masters of Business Administration with a marketing major from the University of St. Thomas.

Early in Kim’s career she was a public accountant and a controller which gives her a great foundation for understanding school funding and managing budgets. She then moved into the high tech industry working for an accounting software company. Kim moved through various positions in that company including customer support, training, product management, ending her tenure there as Director of Marketing.

Kim has held senior positions with a number of technology companies including Director of Marketing and President of a small financial software company. Her professional experience has taught Kim how to think strategically, manage budgets, and work effectively as a member of diverse teams.

Vote for Kim Ross
On the personal side, Kim has been fortunate to travel the world and experience other cultures. Later in life she was blessed with her daughter Braden. Braden is a 2019 graduate of Eden Prairie High School and a 2022 graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison, with majors in journalism and Spanish, and certificates in history and public policy. She is currently a multi-media journalist (i.e. reporter) at WISC, the CBS affiliate station in Madison.

Before Braden was in the Eden Prairie schools, Kim began her Eden Prairie schools related volunteer work. She ran communications for the successful 2004 referendum campaign. Kim was the lead consultant for a Habitat for Technology project that teamed high school students with professionals like her to build websites for small businesses. She also taught marketing at a summer entrepreneurship camp at the high school that helped students learn how to make their dreams to start their own businesses a reality. Kim was elected to the Eden Prairie School Board in 2007 and served 2008-2011, including as chair of the board in 2010.

Eden Prairie Noon Rotary Rib Fest

As a member and past-president of the Eden Prairie Noon Rotary Club, Kim has been a mentor to Eden Prairie High School juniors and seniors, participated in the Ethics Day Workshop for high school seniors and My Book Day for Eden Prairie first graders.

The combination of Kim’s personal and professional experiences along with the perspective of a 40-year resident of Eden Prairie and a member of the Eden Prairie School Board brings a knowledgeable perspective and depth of experience to the board.
